Crash at Remutaka Hill summit

The southbound lane on State Highway 2, Remutaka Hill Summit, is blocked due to a two-vehicle crash.

The crash was reported to emergency services around 7am.

Motorists are urged to delay travel while emergency services work at the scene. The lane may be blocked for some time.

Weather warning for Upper Hutt (Updated 7.30AM, 16 February)

Upper Hutt is currently under a Strong Wind Warning (Orange) and a Heavy Rain Watch.
Stay cautious and avoid unnecessary travel.

  • Power outages reported in Whitemans Valley, Blue Mountains, and Moonshine Valley
  • SH2 northbound is closed between Haywards Interchange and Silverstream
  • No train services during AM peak hours
  • For local school closures, please check with the school directly
