4 a Better City

Our I Have A Dream Upper Hutt tamariki have worked hard, learnt new skills, faced challenges and achieved so much this year. Now we want to bring them and their whānau together for a special end-of-year celebration – a chance to have fun, make memories and celebrate how far they’ve come.

A little about I Have A Dream

I Have A Dream is an in-school mentoring programme at Te Kura o Hau Karetu. Dedicated mentors, known as Navigators, work alongside tamariki (Dreamers) throughout their time at the kura, supporting their learning, encouraging them to explore their interests, helping them navigate challenges and building their confidence to reach their potential.

We currently have 135 Dreamers in the programme. They are a special bunch of kids who are working hard to learn, grow and become the best people they can be and we want to celebrate them.

How can our community help?

We’re inviting local businesses, organisations and individuals to get behind these tamariki in our neighbourhood by donating goods or contributing financially towards the event.

We’re looking for donations of:

  • Sausages and BBQ supplies
  • Ice creams
  • Drinks and refreshments
  • Prizes, treats and small gifts
  • Lolly bags for Santa to hand out
  • Outdoor games
  • Financial contributions towards event costs

Whether you’re a local business able to donate supplies or someone who’d simply like to contribute, every little bit will help make this a memorable day for our Dreamers and their whānau.

Can you get behind our dreamers?

If you’re able to help, we’d love to hear from you by Monday 16 November.

Please email hello@4abettercity.nz to find out more or arrange a donation.

By supporting the children in our neighbourhood, you’re helping create opportunities for them to feel celebrated, valued and encouraged. Thank you for being part of their journey!
