
Commuter trains on the Hutt Valley, Jonhnsonville, and Porirua/ Kapiti lines will be replaced by busses from the 26th of December to the 12th of January
The work will include replacing rails and sleepers, bridge repairs, and level crossing upgrades. Some of these projects will be in preparation for the new trains arriving in 2029, the increased services between Wairarapa and Manawatū, as well as preparation work for new substations and the renewal of the Ava Railway bridge in Lower Hutt.
Trains on the Johnsonville, and the Wellington – Porirua service will resume on the 5th of January, and the other services resuming on the 12th January.
