Upper Hutt Petanque Club has retained the Jacques Cochonnet trophy after another good humoured challenge from Otaki Petanque Club played on their home ground at Otaki on Thursday 10th July 2025. A most enjoyable 9 games were played and whilst a couple of them were very close indeed, Upper Hutt won 6 of the 9 games. The Upper Hutt team was Brian Smith, Mary Khalil and Moises Burgos (Triples), Dave Gwerder and Derek Worsley (Doubles) and Adrienne Gwerder (Singles). The Otaki team consisted of Linley Wistrand, Wendy Mohan and Craig Watson (Triples), Shirley MacDonald and Gary Brunton (Doubles), and Carolyn Graham (Singles).
This was the thirteenth challenge and fourteenth consecutive win for the trophy since Upper Hutt won it in November 2023. The next challenge is from Wanganui East at Maidstone Park, Upper Hutt.
