Hot on the heels of the success in the Wellington Petanque Association (WPA) Champion of Champions Doubles tournament yesterday, Upper Hutt Petanque Club hosted the Champion of Champion Singles tournament on Sunday 23rd March. Again there were 7 teams entered from clubs in the Wellington region. 7 rounds of games were played with each team sitting out for one round, 4 games before lunch and 3 after. The winners were in doubt until the last game was finished, a nail biter. However, Upper Hutt prevailed with 6 wins, followed by Naenae, also with 6 wins, followed by Kapiti with 3 wins. The final positions are circled at the bottom of the results page. Again, the final positions of the top two was based on who won when those two played each other, and not on the differential scores. Photos from both tournaments will follow soon!
