The Kapiti Memorial Mêlée tournament was held on Sunday 12th October on a wet and blustery day, though the serious rain held off until part way throught the very last game. This tournament is a memorial for those petanque stalwarts that have now passed, but never forgotten.

The tournament started with the steam train passing by, always a great sight. 5 rounds of games were played where everyone is partnered up with random players, against random teams. At the end of these games, everyone is ranked based on number of games won and then their score differential. Only 1 point separated the 1st and 2nd places, but Dave Gwerder (UHPC) took the top spot again, having won last year as well. Annick Le Guen (Kapiti) took 2nd place, Kevin McFadgen (Kapiti) 3rd, and Bill King (Kapiti) 4th. Derek Worsley (UHPC) won the raffle. Well done to all winners, and thanks to all players and helpers on the day.
