This tournament was held at Maidstone Park on Sunday 24th May after having been postponed from 12th April due to a cyclone threat. Although the start was autumnal, the sun shone all day making the cool northerly bearable. 32 entries from around the Wellington region participated, with a couple being shared entries to cater for those unable or unwilling to play 5 full games. The format was 50 minute games with no extra end unless as a tie-breaker, and 3 games were played before lunch. The afternoon was markedly cooler due to the wind but everyone was wrapped up tight.
- The unluckiest player was Chris Wood from Masterton, who took home a goody bag donated by Summerset Retirement Homes.
- 3rd place was won by Graeme Pilcher from Masterton, with 4 wins and a differential of 25.
- 2nd place was won by Bruce Stephenson from Naenae, also with 4 wins but a differential of 30.
- 1st place was won by John Pryer, also from Masterton, also with 4 wins, but a differential of 31, making it a very close finish indeed.
The three winners all took home cash prizes, and the $50 raffle was won by Adrienne Gwerder from Upper Hutt.
Thanks to all the helpers, food donors, and participants, and hearty congratulations to all the winners.
