Last Saturday (19th / 20th of July) marked a key milestone for Richie Smyrnis who made his debut start in our Men’s 1st team against Miramar. We are excited to see Richie continue to grow as a player and proud of his success as someone who has come up through the ranks of junior football here at Upper Hutt and now transitioning into our men’s teams.
A few words below from Rory Fallon (Director of Football and the coach of the Men’s 1st:
16 year old Richie who’s selection in his Central League debut game v Miramar is a great moment not just for Richie but for his family and the club.
Richie is part of the elite pro players that are training everyday and working towards their goals of being professional players.
Our TDP space is producing some of the best young talent in Wellington with other players soon to follow in his footsteps.
A big thank you to Jonathan Winkworth and the rest of the TDP coaches that have put time into these young players.
We are looking forward to more young players making their debuts into the first team and hopefully one day going even higher than the Central League.
He Waka Eke Noa
Rory.
