We’re looking for three people to step into voluntary roles as Trustees at Whirinaki Whare Taonga Trust.

Whirinaki Whare Taonga is overseen by a board of seven trustees who govern its operation. The Trust is dedicated to promoting arts, culture, and events in Upper Hutt.

What are we looking for in candidates for the roles?

We’re inviting candidates with experience in governance to apply. You should also have knowledge and understanding of Upper Hutt’s rich and diverse communities.

In particular, we’re looking for candidates with the following strengths:

  • board leadership, risk management, and strategic planning;
  • strong financial acumen and commercial judgement; and
  • digital or technological skills for community governance in the not-for-profit sector.

Our ideal candidates will be able to think strategically, and will have a passion for and commitment to arts, culture, and/or events as well as a commitment to Te Tiriti. Any established networks in this sector would be a bonus.

By joining us, you’ll have a unique opportunity to shape crucial decisions in the arts, culture, and events sector in Upper Hutt. You’ll also help steer strategic community initiatives that benefit and positively influence people in our community.

As a trustee, you’ll actively contribute to vital discussions, offering your expertise to support and guide the implementation of transformative policies that govern the operations and performance of Whirinaki Whare Taonga.

Trustee positions are voluntary. The term of office is up to three years, with in-person meetings likely to be held every six weeks on weekday evenings.
