


Last Tuesday a group of Maidstone students went to H2O Xtream to give something new a go, taking part in aqua aerobics. Wairoa College also paid Maidstone a visit. And another group went to Earthlink in Taita to learn how recycling works and about reducing waste in our community.

On Wednesday Maidstone sent their team of 35 to the WRISSA athletics event to Newtown Park in Wellington. Highlights of the day included:
- Kiana Yr 8- 1st 1500, 1st 800 and 3rd 200
- Ellie Yr 8 – 3rd 100 and 2nd 200
- Keisha Yr 8 – 3rd Long jump
- Peyton Yr 8 – 3rd Vortex and 3rd High jump
- Taylah Yr 7 – 2nd 100, 2nd 200 and 1st High Jump
- Hazel Yr 7 – 1st 1500 and 2nd 800
- Fulori Yr 7 – 3rd Long jump
- Thomas Yr 8 – 3rd 1500 and 800
- Marquis Yr 8 – 2nd High jump
- Stanley Yr 7 – 3rd 200m
- Patrick Yr 7 – 2nd Shotput
- Malo Yr 7 – 3rd Shotput

Maidstone Kapa Haka performed at the Upper Hutt Cultural Festival.

And the orchard at the intermediate is well underway. To round off the year, macadamias, olives, figs, currants, passionfruit, and even wasabi and tamarillo were planted!
