Went to see Zootopia 2 this afternoon. Following right after the first film, Judy and Nick have only been on the force together for a week, they get involved in yet another case – this time involving getting into the bad books of the powerful Lynx family and the explanation why no reptiles have ever been seen within the walls of Zootopia.

There are certainly a few pop culture references are to be found in the film, some much more obvious than others. I’m sure those who watched Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining will get the obvious one near the end – but there’s a Hungry Hungry Hippos joke hidden away, as well as – this might have just been me – a reference to the film Spaceballs, or maybe it was just Disney doing some self-deprecating humour considering how many sequels and prequels have been done over recent years? Certainly came across a little bit like Yoghurt’s merchandising scene though.
