These also go by the name of Santé Biscuits in the Edmonds Cookery Book, or otherwise they could just be called chocolate chip biscuits.
Original recipe: Edmonds Cookery Book
Ingredients
- 125g butter, softened
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 3 Tbsp sweetened condensed milk
- a few drops of vanilla essence
- 1 1/2 cups standard flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1/2 cup of chocolate chips (I use a block of Whittakers Dark Ghana 70%, and then roughly chop it. Is about four rows of the block)
Method
- Preheat the oven to 180°C
- Cream the butter, condensed milk and vanilla until light and fluffy. Sift the flour and baking powder together and mix into the creamed mixture, followed by the chocolate chips.
- Roll teaspoonfuls of the mixture into balls, place on a greased oven tray and flatten with a floured fork.
- Bake for 9-10 minutes. Leave on the tray for 1-2 minutes and then place on a wire rack to cool.
