Ingredients:
- 125g butter, softened
- 1/3 cup brown sugar
- 1 tsp vanilla
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp treacle
- 1 tsp of ginger, cinnamon, and ground cloves
- 2 & 1/4 cups flour
- 1 tsp baking powder
Method:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C
- Cream the butter and brown sugar, and then stir in the vanilla. Add the egg and treacle, and mix them in.
- Sift together the ginger, cinnamon, ground cloves, flour, and baking powder and then add to the creamed mixture. Mix to combine, then knead with hands until it forms a dough.
- Flour the bench surface and lightly flour the dough, then roll out thinly with a rolling pin, to about 3mm thick.
- Use biscuit cutters to cut them into what ever shape appeals.
- Bake in the oven for 11 minutes, then remove from oven and leave to sit for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool.
