Upper Hutt City Council

Consultant Linda Meade, Kalimena boutique infrastructure consultant thinks to get Wellington city back from the abyss (today’s Post article Thursday 2nd October) and a share of government regional deal initiatives is” amalgamation,” of course. One initiative, she in her wisdom, thinks could be done is a regional apprenticeships skills hub based around Trentham Army base. Interesting proposition, is that anything like the CIT that was at Heretaunga? If only we had known the answer to the loss of this facility was due to Wellington region not being one amalgamated region. If only we had, had consulting advisors in the day. I say beware of consultants and their expensive advice any which way you look at it they are just more lobbyist telling us what is good for us. Perhaps government could pay the rates on the army camp property and Upper Hutt city council could use it to support shops in a main street upgrade. Keep Upper Hutt local, unless we profit, on an amalgamated regional deal, is my pledge as an Upper Hutt city council candidate. In my opinion, random consultations are not necessary or Nice to Have.
