It is very very disappointing that Upper Hutt City Council will not clear the weed and broken branches from the duckpond area at Heretaunga Park. The park is visited by hundreds of people every week and lots of visiting sports teams at the weekend. The council spray the weed with roundup at least once a year but the doesn’t help. The council claim it is too dangerous for contractors to get in the water to clean the stream yet volunteers get into waist deep water further down the Mawaihakona Stream behind St Pats to keep the stream flowing. It is hard to have pride in the city when taking visitors over to the duckpond when the stream at the entrance to Heretaunga Park looks so awful.
Perhaps I am the only one who cares and it is not an issue for the residents of Upper Hutt.
