And that’s a wrap on the Western Hills project to line an aging wastewater pipeline.
Taking advantage of the lower traffic volumes over Easter and the school holidays, the project team worked hard to insert the four liners along SH2 Melling, pushing through some challenging weather and technical difficulties in the first week.
They managed to catch up to finish all the lining and curing works just in time to remove the traffic management set-up last weekend. A total of 589 meters of pipe were lined over this two-week period.
Ka pai to everyone involved for getting this project completed within two weeks and well under the approved budget.
A huge thank you to road users and residents in the Western Hills area for your patience and understanding throughout the project!
This project highlights the importance of the existing pipe condition assessment programme our council owners fund which allow us to identify issues early and plan for repairs and renewals before these become bigger problems.
This has enabled us to future-proof this key piece of infrastructure with as little disruption as possible.
