In July 2021, Bridie Young was involved in a car crash in Totara Park which left her with long-lasting injuries, suffering multiple broken bones, a collapsed lung, and traumatic brain injuries.

She now educates young people about the consequences of dangerous driving, giving presentations at the Wellington Central Police Station and Porirua Police Station every month. Due to the outcome, Bridie has been able to have the dream job she wanted prior to the accident, which was to work with the Police. “In a way, I’m doing exactly that” she said.
