Heading north on SH2 over the school holidays?
Great news – your commute won’t be impacted as the connecting works on Whakawhirinaki, the Silverstream pipe bridge will not be underway yet.
We need to do a bit more prep work on the pipe bridge before connecting it to the drinking water network. We’ll provide an update on timing as soon as possible.
In the meantime, prep works on Fergusson Drive are progressing well! To date the installation of an access manhole and thrust block are almost complete. An access manhole would make underground pipe maintenance easier, while a thrust block is a concrete support that holds the pipe in place under pressure or movements.
Depending on weather conditions, we expect traffic management to be removed temporarily early July until the cut-in works take place.
Stay tuned for further updates on the project.
