UPDATE: 6.10 pm, Wednesday 3rd of September: Both lanes have reopened and access to Totara Park has been restored.

State Highway 2 is now CLOSED to northbound traffic between Gibbons St lights and the northern intersection with Fergusson Dr at Maoribank.

Detour via Gibbons St and Fergusson Dr and allow additional time for travel through the area this afternoon. SH2 remains OPEN to southbound travel through the area.

Please note access between SH2 and the suburb of Tōtara Park is unavailable at this time. Police-led serious crash investigations are underway at the SH2/ Totara Park Rd intersection. These can take several hours and it is possible this intersection will remain closed for several hours this afternoon.
