Silverstream Lions recently donated 50 tōtara trees to Mawaihakona Stream and on Sunday, three of our members got their hands dirty and planted the first 25.

Well… three members, one dragged-along hubby and one dog who was only there because a walk afterwards had been promised!

It was a beautiful day to be out in the community, dodging the rain and doing something that will last far beyond us.

There’s something pretty special about thinking that our 52-year-old Silverstream Lions Club NZ will continue to have a presence in the community through these beautiful native trees — providing shade, habitat and enjoyment for generations to come.

25 planted, 25 to go… and hopefully the dog will be available for the next shift!
