Silverstream Lions Club and their volunteers clean up the Silverstream rail corridor

Did you see that massive load of mulch by Silverstream Railway Station today? It is now spread over the freshly weeded native trees and shrubs we’ve planted over the years along the rail corridor.

A HUGE thank you to all the volunteers who came to our clean up today with KiwiRail and Keep Hutt Valley Beautiful. We picked up loads of rubbish along the rail corridor and surrounding streets, weeded and put some new plants in – and moved that massive mound of mulch.

A massive shout to Isaac of KiwiRail who gets us on the tracks safely to tend the planting and clean up – and for an awesome lunch! Isaac organised the mulch too

Isaac returned later with a blower vac too and cleaned the carpark up too – gem. Thank you Wayne of Keep Hutt Valley Beautiful for bringing the grabber sticks and gloves – and the fantastic Hutt Valley volunteers you bring too. A big shout out to the children and parents of St Mary’s Anglican Church in Silverstream did a fabulous job picking up rubbish around the streets of Silverstream. Thank you! And three teenage boys – Alex, Alex and Oliver moved so, so much mulch today. They were outstanding. We had other young helpers today too – it is awesome to see.
