You might remember the colourful artwork created by students from Tōtara Park School on the temporary fencing around the bridge.

A big thank you again to the students for bringing some colour and creativity to the work site, we’ve loved seeing their artwork now brightening up the bridge!

With scaffolding now up, work is underway to replace the drinking water and wastewater pipes beneath the bridge, as well as upgrade the pipe connections at both ends of the bridge to improve earthquake resilience.

The new pipes and brackets along the bridge are designed to IL4, equivalent to a 2,500-year return period earthquake event.

The existing pipes are nearing the end of their life, and these upgrades will help provide more resilient and reliable water and wastewater services for the Tōtara Park community for years to come.

We’ll keep the artwork on display while the work progresses.
