Last week sections of State Highway 2 in Upper Hutt were closed at night to complete important maintenance works.
Roadworkers patched sections of the road that were in poor condition, which is important pre-work before we get into the major resurfacing season. They also repaired barriers and hit sticks, completed line marking, and did some electrical work. These routine maintenance works help make the state highway safer and more resilient.
By utilising closures for these works, roadworkers were able to complete more works at one time. This reduces costs, is safer, and means we can do more works at once.
