Rimutaka Lions Celebrate a Year of Service and Welcome New Leadership

With pride, purpose -and a few well-earned laughs – the Rimutaka Lions Club gathered recently for one of its most treasured traditions: the Annual Officers Installation Ceremony.

Held in true Lions spirit, the evening was a chance to look back with gratitude and forward with fresh energy. Outgoing President Paul Lambert – no stranger to the top job – reflected on a year filled with both change and continuity. Despite spending a good portion of the year overseas, Paul’s steady leadership helped the club deliver on many cherished projects, from the Food Truck at community festivals and school events to the enduring Room at the Inn Christmas Lunch and support for the Karapoti Classic’s 40th anniversary.

Paul offered heartfelt thanks to all members for their contribution, especially 1st VP Alice for stepping in during his absence. “Rather than single out individuals,” he said, “I wanted to acknowledge everyone for their hard work. The personalised certificates reflect just how much we’ve achieved together this year.”

The gavel was passed (figuratively and literally) to incoming President Alice, who shared her vision for the year ahead. “We are guardians of a proud legacy,” she said, “and our challenge now is to carry that spirit forward in a changing world.” Her address was equal parts respectful of tradition and quietly bold, calling on members to keep adapting and to continue working side by side with the Upper Hutt community.

The night was filled with moments of laughter, connection, and resolve as Lions reaffirmed their commitment to making a difference—one project, one meal, one act of service at a time.

New Members very welcome – join us at King Lion Hall Monday nights.
