It’s that time again – the rail grinder is in town. We bring it to Wellington as part of our standard maintenance to help extend the life of the rail.
Throughout May and June, the grinder will be working all over the region to reprofile turnouts (where trains change from one track to another) and newly laid rail.
We work at night when the trains aren’t operating, and we’re sorry to say it is a bit noisy. Rest assured it never stays in one place for very long!
