Proposed amendments to the Litter Act will make things more difficult for fly-tippers

Local Democracy Reporting

Proposed amendments to the 1979 Litter Act and 2008 Waste Minimisation Act will make things more difficult for fly-tippers to get away with illegal dumping of rubbish – under the current law, even if the name and address of the dumper is known, no action can be taken.

If these new amendments are passed, authorities will no longer have to catch offenders in the act. Personal information from the garbage and vehicle registration information gathered can be used to track down those responsible.
