Can you remember back to bumper mail deliveries in the leadup to Christmas with Christmas cards being exchanged through the mail, and local businesses sending out calendars to their customers.
The Upper Hutt Weekly Review i reported that “second delivery” of mail commenced within the borough boundaries on Tuesday 10 December 1935. Wednesday being the statutory half-holiday in this district the postmen take their half-holiday on that day also therefore, on Wednesdays, there will be only one delivery (in the morning), but correspondence may be called for during the afternoon of that day as hitherto.
There will be two deliveries on Saturdays.
