Our pāteke breeding pair are absolutely smashing it…and this gorgeous clutch of five ducklings is their latest success!
In just a few weeks, once mum and dad have finished raising them, these little ones will head to their temporary home at The Isaac Conservation and Wildlife Trust in the South Island.
There, they’ll be prepared for a safe release into the wild at Milford Sound, an exciting next step in their journey back to nature.
As a nationally endangered and incredibly rare species, pāteke are a precious taonga, and we’re proud to support their recovery through our long-running captive breeding programme.
