James Posthuma is retiring, and Millward Auto Electricians is too when he closes the business today.
He started as an apprentice in the 1970’s, then as an auto electrician, and then finally as its owner. In the late 1990’s, James bought the business and out of respect for the original owner and his employer, Ian Millward, he kept the business name – Something which Millward’s daughter, Sue Wylie, and her family appreciated.
Ian Millward was extremely intelligent, Sue Wylie and James Posthuma said – making a number of tools around the chop that are still used today. His mindset was to make everything himself, even when he could have just gone out and bought something.
James Posthuma plans to take home all his tools, including the ones made by Ian Millward, and possibly rent out the space.
