It’s on! Works to connect Whakawhirinaki, the Silverstream pipe bridge, to the drinking water network is starting mid-September. This is a major step towards increasing our region’s water supply resilience!
As works will be taking place next to SH2 and Fergusson Drive, there will be some traffic impacts during the works.
Lane diversions will be in place around the Fergusson Drive (south)/Silverstream Bridge intersection from 7 September until early November.
Traffic management on SH2 at Silverstream is expected to be between14 September and early October.
Two northbound lanes towards Upper Hutt will remain open, but the lane widths will be reduced to 2.8m.
The cycle lane will be closed so cyclists will need to use alternative cycling routes and travel options.
Cyclists can also use the train service between Manor Park and Silverstream. For the most up-to-date bus replacement schedule, head to MetLink’s website.
We’re minimising disruption as much as possible. Please plan ahead and expect delays while commuting during this time.
