Yesterday morning, a Karakia took place at Akatārawa Cemetery to officially mark the start of Phase One in a three-phase expansion project with.
The ceremony was led by Tautoko Ratu (Te Ātiawa/N.Toa Rangatira) our Kaitakawaenga Kaupapa Māori.
Vegetation clearing began yesterday as we make space for future needs. With 10–14 years of burial capacity remaining, this project is an important step for the Upper Hutt and Lower Hutt communities.
This is a joint project with Hutt City Council.
