Important update about rubbish bags

Upper Hutt City Council

Council-branded rubbish bags have been around for 40 years. In 2012, WM (formerly Waste Management) took over the supply and collection. Their contract ended in 2017 and wasn’t renewed, but they’ve continued handling the bags since. We’ve now come into agreement that we will no longer be part of this.

What’s changing:

Our logo will be removed from the rubbish bags, therefore we are no longer responsible for these.

All enquiries about bags will now go directly to WM. Call 0800 10 10 10 or send them a message.

What you need to know:

WM rubbish bags are green and available at local supermarkets and dairies.

As old stock with our logo is used up, new bags with the WM logo and contact info will be available.

Service Update:

No change to service! WM will continue supplying, distributing, and collecting bags—whether they have our logo or not.

No change to your collection days (except for Good Friday, Christmas Day, and New Year’s Day).
