Five pedestrians were hit by a car, during a car crash, shortly before 1.45 pm on Saturday afternoon.

Four people were taken to hospital. Two to Hutt Hospital, one in a serious condition and one in a mild condition. The other two were taken to Wellington Hospital in mild conditions. The fifth person was treated at the scene.

Fire and Emergency have said that two cars were involved in the crash, and a power pole had been hit as well as the pedestrians.

Fergusson Drive is currently blocked, and detours are in place for those heading to and from the races today.
