The body of an elderly person was found at the scene of a house fire in Tararua Street in the early hours of Tuesday morning. This is believed to be the person who lived there.

He was described by his neighbours to be a kind man, and a bit of a recluse – not often being seen out of the house. They were very concerned for him as he was very old and could barely walk. He was also said to have had a successful career in the racing industry, breeding and racing beautiful thoroughbred horses. He has also been said to be a talented leather worker.
