Almost done! New pipebridge at Kaitoke nearing completion

Great news flowing in from Kaitoke!

Our crews from Brian Perry Civil recently installed the final section of pipeline, enabling the switch from the old bulk water pipeline to the new one.

With help from the Stantec team, the crew pulled out all the stops and worked round the clock to complete the works within a 6-day shutdown period, rather than the originally scheduled 14 days!

Four new emergency pumps were installed below Te Mārua which pumped around 50 million litres per day to lakes during the shutdown.

While we had the shutdown window, we made the most of the opportunity and completed extra work at the outlet weir, and a tunnel inspection.

The focus is now shifting to building a stone wall next to the pipeline and covering the pipe; building the access ramp to the bridge and landscaping before the walkway is reopened to the public.
