The Upper Hutt Salvation Army at 695 Fergusson Drive has opened up a social supermarket in Upper Hutt, to help those in need in our community.
Points are allocated which are then spent on items. Items available include meat and dairy products as well. The staff help the customers pick out and budget for the products they actually want or will use. This means there is no waste afterwards, as the products are all things that the customers know how to cook, and nothing that they have no idea how, or if, they’ll be able to use them.
A “thank you” to Sallie for requesting that this article be put up on The Upper Hutt Connection.
