A reminder from the council this 2024 Road Safety Week

Brake – The road safety charity

It’s Road Safety Week (20-26 May) and we’re showing our support by lighting up the fantail at the entrance of Upper Hutt.

Buildings, bridges, and icons are lit up yellow in towns and cities around New Zealand to remind people of the importance of Road Safety.

Be a Road-Safety Hero…

  • Drive to the conditions.
  • Drive phone free.
  • Drive sober.
  • Check your vehicle.
  • Make sure everyone is belted up.
  • Always wear a helmet when cycling.
  • Teach children to cross the road safely.
