1080 aerial drop operation starts tomorrow

OSPRI

Tomorrow, Monday 20th of May, we start TB control work in the Northern Remutaka Ranges. This work is happening to control possum numbers, as they are our main carrier and spreader of bovine tuberculosis (TB) to livestock.

Please be aware of helicopters in the area, undertaking their first task; a ‘pre-feed’ which involves the release of tan coloured non-toxic cereal bait. In the coming days (no sooner than five) work will continue with the application of a green coloured toxic bait (1080).

We request you stay away while we’re working, and then follow the precautions on warning signs in the area.
