I kind of have a love/hate relationship when it comes to Final Fantasy II. While I enjoy the different levelling up system, there are numerous downsides which makes playing it more of a nightmare at times. The ones I can count off the top of my head. Enemies can cause status problems just by a normal attack (If a party of Coeurl’s get an ambush attack, the party can be dead before you even choose a command) so make sure to have esuna/basuna always on hand, Undead enemies absorb health just by attacking, and the more HP a character has, the more damage they deal.

Having said all this, I appreciate the Quick Save / Autosave feature greatly in this version of Final Fantasy II, especially as since you can’t save in dungeons.

Final Fantasy II isn’t bad, it’s just seems to be the most challenging entry in the whole series.
