She had been teaching accounting at Upper Hutt College since 1969 (with time at Kapiti College from 1977 to mid-1981) when she retired as deputy principal at the end of 1993, and in retirement was still busy as a farmer’s wife and a tutor.

She received a Queen’s Service medal in the 1994 New Year’s Honours.

The April 14, 1981 ‘The Leader’ said she had been senior mistress at Kapiti College when she was appointed senior mistress at Upper Hutt College, to succeed Audrey Harper, who had retired. was still busy as a farmer’s wife and a tutor.
