Do you know anyone who will be alone on Christmas Day and would like to have
a lunch in the company of others . Please let the know that Rimutaka Lions
Club are organizing their Community Lunch again on Christmas Day. They have
been doing it for well over 30 years now . In the early days members even
prepared and cooked the food . The event is held to give those Upper Hutt
residents who may be alone on the day the opportunity to have a Christmas
lunch in the company of others.

The Rimutaka Lions Club are now well supported by staff and management at
Blend Bar and Bistro where the lunch is prepared and served .The Meals on
Wheels are also cooked and boxed there ready for delivery

The doors for lunch at 11.30 am and finishes at 2.00 pm at Blend in
King Street .

The Meals on Wheels part of the event involves Lions and other volunteers
delivering Meals on Wheels to designated Upper Hutt residents . This is
normally done by Red Cross volunteers Monday to Friday .

Paul Lambert , past president of Rimutaka Lions Club says he has been very
busy with offers from the community to help to deliver the Meals on Wheels
and apologises for delays in replying . As soon as he has all the list of
people getting these meals he will contact volunteers . This is likely to be
around 19 December .
