We have our Code Compliance Certificate. This has taken us 3 years to obtain and many hurdles to overcome but at last we have completed this task. We would like to acknowledge the help and support we have had from various local businesses in getting this far and the financial assistance of the Gillies Family, Pelorus Trust and several others who have supported us. We also need to recognize the effort and determination of our members in doing the hard graft to get where we are, thanks to Phil K, David B, Peter R, Darryl R, John S and many others who have bent their backs to the wheel in getting us across the line.

As reported last month we are now about to start the metal working facility (Building #4) which will occupy space adjacent to Building #3. Final discussions on the specification and supplier are underway.

The major project to provide a very large model for a local deb’s ball mentioned previously, has now been completed thanks to Doug. The model was delivered earlier this month for the customer to do the final decoration prior to the event. We hope to have a photo of the finished item at the event by the next report. This has been one of the biggest projects we have tackled to date.

Community projects completed include a ballet bar for a local kindy, repair of a garden fork, a tricky repair of some marble door handles, making some weaving tools, completion of the puzzles started a while ago and securing a rain tank for our kindy neighbour. In addition a couple of wobbly chairs have been fixed.

We are always on the lookout for new members. You may notice a few flyers going up around the city pointing out ‘The Menzshed needs you’. The display installed in UH Mall showing some of the things we do and who we do them for has generated some interest, with a few prospective new members turning up at the shed. If you would like a change from being bored and nothing to do, come along to the Menzshed – you may never leave!
