A variation you can apply to some of the slices in the baking section.

Hi everyone, here’s something new which I’ve been trying with my slices lately.

If you find it hard rolling out the second measure of dough to cover the fillings when it comes to the Strawberry Slice, Apricot Slice, and the Fudge Cake slice, you can always add a 1/4 cup of extra flour to the dough, knead it in, and then roll and cut it to make a lattice design. I’ve found that this works much more reliably than the other method.

Getting back to Upper Hutt: All opinion pieces now HAVE to be Upper Hutt related

AI Generated

Hi everyone,

I had some feedback about some recent opinion pieces about how they aren’t even related to Upper Hutt, being about overseas issues. I acknowledge that these are far off topic, where The Upper Hutt Connection is supposed to be about Upper Hutt.

From now on, all opinion pieces now have to be Upper Hutt related, I won’t be publishing any which aren’t relating to Upper Hutt.

The Orange Weather Warnings are still in effect for Upper Hutt as of 3AM this morning. The severe wind and rain have eased, but we are now moving into the clean-up and recovery phase.

What this means for our Upper Hutt residents:

  • The worst of the weather is over, and conditions have stabilised. Thank you for following safety advice and looking out for one another.
  • Council teams are out assessing damage and clearing fallen trees, debris, and hazards in public spaces and roads. Please keep clear of these areas as your safety continues to be our priority.
  • Please continue to be cautious around trees, parks, and waterways and watch for loose debris on roads and footpaths.
  • Now is a great time to check on neighbours, especially those who are elderly, live alone, or may need extra help.

WREMO continues to advise people to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary due to debris and ongoing safety risks.

If you’re using public transport, allow extra time for your journey and check Metlink for service updates.

Hi everyone,

You’re probably well aware that it’s ghastly weather out there today. Metservice has Upper Hutt under a red wind warning and an orange rain warning. The wind warning is until 3.00 am Friday morning, and 12.00 noon on Friday for the rain warning.

Hope you’ve found a place where you can avoid the wind and rain for the day.
