Fantasy comes to life at New Zealand’s longest, three-day LEGO show
PORIRUA, 19 August 2026
The Wellington Brick Show is set to be bigger than ever this September, with around 10,000 visitors expected at Te Rauparaha Arena in Porirua for a weekend celebrating creativity, imagination and all things LEGO.
The 2026 event marks the first year at Te Rauparaha Arena, after the show outgrew its previous venue. Around 175 exhibitors will bring their LEGO creations to Porirua, with this year’s theme of Fantasy promising dragons, castles, mythical worlds and plenty of unexpected creations.
The Wellington Brick Show is organised by Well-LUG (Wellington LEGO User Group), a volunteer-run community organisation made up of LEGO enthusiasts from across the region.
“We’ve reached the point where we simply outgrew our previous venue,” says Wellington Brick Show co-organiser Pete Robson.
“Moving to Te Rauparaha Arena means we can bring the show to a whole new level. We’re expecting around 10,000 people over the weekend, and there’s going to be an incredible amount of LEGO on display, across not one but two stadiums!”
The Brick Show is more than just a display of LEGO models. It brings together families, children, serious LEGO builders and Adult Fans of LEGO (AFOLs) – a growing community of adults who have turned their childhood hobby into a serious creative pursuit.
The Wellington Brick Show is also New Zealand’s only three-day LEGO show, with a dedicated day specifically for AFOLs before the public events.
“I’m an AFOL myself, so I’m very comfortable admitting that LEGO isn’t just a kids’ hobby,” says Robson. “There are adults all over New Zealand building incredibly complex things with LEGO, and the show gives them a chance to share what they create with thousands of other people.”
The event also has a strong community and charitable focus. Across its Brick Shows, Well-LUG has collectively raised more than $215,000 for charities and community organisations.
The move to Porirua is expected to bring visitors from throughout the Wellington region and beyond, supporting the city’s growing reputation as a destination for major community and family events.
