Give Back This Christmas with Free For All

Give Back This Christmas with Free For All

Ilana Miller, Free For All Charitable Trust

This Christmas, Free For All — a zero-waste charity redefining how Aotearoa thinks about “stuff” — is inviting everyone to give back, not throw away.

From their redistribution hub in Petone, Free For All rescues over 2.5 tonnes of usable goods every week — homewares, toys, books, clothing, furniture, and more — keeping them out of landfill and in the hands of people who need them most. Everyone’s welcome to drop off or collect items: no judgment, no paperwork — just community generosity in action.

Beyond reducing waste, Free For All provides real financial relief to hundreds of Wellington whānau each week. The Pay-It-Forward programme lets local businesses and individuals sponsor entry vouchers for families doing it tough — ensuring everyone can access essentials with dignity.

How to help this Christmas

There are lots of ways to get involved and make a difference this festive season — every small action helps keep our community thriving.

  • Donate your pre-loved goods — every item makes a difference
  • Shop sustainably at Free For All — find treasures and give them a second life
  • Host a workplace donation drive — declutter your office, we’ll take almost anything and put it to new use
  • Volunteer — whether as an individual or a team, it’s a rewarding way to give back with purpose
  • Sponsor Pay-It-Forward vouchers to directly support local families

Together, we can help keep useful goods circulating, communities thriving, and Aotearoa’s landfills a little emptier this Christmas.
